Moving to high school

Finishing primary school and preparing to begin high school is an exciting milestone for our students and families. While it may feel early to be thinking about Year 7, many parents are surprised to learn that the enrolment process begins well in advance. High schools manage a significant planning and placement process, so meeting timelines is very important.

Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for Year 7 2027 enrolments open on 2 March 2026. All families are encouraged to complete the EOI process as soon as possible to ensure a smooth transition to high school.

If your child is considering placement at Hunter School of the Performing Arts, Merewether High School, or Hunter Sports High School, please note that these placements are not confirmed until later in the year. To avoid uncertainty, families should still complete the EOI for their local high school as a back-up option.
