Requesting external services

Stockton Public School provides access to external providers.  These external providers do not have an automatic right to come into our school. Any request must come from a parent or carer in writing so we can make sure the support is safe, appropriate, and in the best interest of the student.

Providers, please read the Fact sheet for providers on mandatory child protection roles and responsibilitiesfrom the Department of Education.

Parents, please read the Parent and Carer Fact Sheet from the Department of Education

To meet the requirements of the school curriculum, and in the best interest of the student and the school, external providers will be able to attend Stockton Public School between 12:30pm and 1:40pm and 2:20pm and 3pm Monday to Friday on school days. It remains the parent's responsibility to advice providers if their child will be absent from school or if there is a school activity on the day/time of support. Bell times can be found here.

There is an External Provider Checklist with the documents and requirements for external providers.  Please read this checklist in full and ensure each and every check/requirement is met before submitting any documents to the school. These requirements/checks are from the Department of Education.  The External Provider Engagement Agreement has changed from last year. Please use the new External Provider Engagement Agreement  NOTE: Attachment B Form 1 is to be signed by the student's parent.

This is an annual process and needs to be completed at the beginning of each school year.

To engage external therapist support at Stockton Public School:

STEP 1. Parent or carer request

Parents or carers download and complete external provider request form and email it back to our school.

Please see Parent and carer fact sheet

STEP 2. School review

Our school reviews the request.

If the school is in agreement with the request, we will contact the provider for documents.

External providers must provide their their date of birth for identification purposes so that the screening process can be completed. The screening process is to ensure the external provider has no criminal record and has a current WWCC.

External providers must complete a Digital Declaration at the first NSW Government school they work at. Their details are then stored in the Department of Education’s database. Once this is completed, all other NSW Government schools can search for the external provider by their name and DOB. They select the correct entry and simply need to ‘confirm ID’ upon the first visit to their school.

Therapists must complete and return:

1. An external provider agreement

2. Child protection awareness training- must be completed annually.

Therapists must read:

1. Code of Conduct policy

2. Controversial issues in schools policy

3. Allegations against employees in the area of child protection

Therapists must provide evidence of:

1. Public liability for at least $20 million

2. Professional indemnity for at least $2 million

3. Workers compensation or equivalent insurance

4. Completed child protection training- for current year

5. Photo ID

For more information please see the External Provider checklist and the fact sheet for providers on mandatory child protection roles and responsibilities

* PLEASE NOTE: If any insurance certificates expire during the school year, the External Provider is responsible for providing the school with an updated certificate prior to the expiration date. If not received before the expiration date, you will not be able to continue the school appointments.

STEP 3. Approval

Once everything is complete, our school will send an email to the external provider, teacher and parent confirming the agreed time and a date for sessions to begin.

External providers cannot begin support until they have received written confirmation from our school.

STEP 4. First day at Stockton Public School

The external provider will be required to show their photo identification to a member of the school administration team. This will complete the screening process. It is recommended all external providers have photo identification with them at each visit in case there is a change in administration staff.

Upon each visit, the external provider will be required to sign in when they arrive via the QR code. They are also required to sign out when they depart.

Therapy is not to commence until therapists have received an email or phone call approving the request.

THIS PROCESS IS ANNUAL. This process is to be completed at the beginning of each school year.
